Oldham Coliseum 4527

Coliseum Theatre, Oldham. The building was relocated to Fairbottom Street in 1887 as a wooden circus. Soon after it was converted to a theatre, presenting music hall and plays. Altered and improved over the years the final remnants of the timber construction were replaced by masonry as late as the 1960's. The stage was replaced 1974. Still retaining the basic music hall form, the theatre is due to close in the near future to be replaced with a new theatre in the town centre. It seats around 580 on three levels.
