The Rex Cinema in Berkhamsted was reopened in 2004 after 16 years of dereliction and is now one of the best places to see a movie in the luxurious ambiance of a 1930's art deco movie palace!

    Wow that is a nice cinema. Hope they keep the cash coming in to fund the digital switch over. Reading that a lot of independant places will go due to the cost of changing the equipment.

    Albeit they have drastically reduced the capacity from when it opened by more than doubling the amount of legroom for each row, the Rex seats are bookable in advance and it frequently sells out.

    Now if they just had a cartoon before the main feature and an interval with an ice cream lady then we are getting there!

    well they've had the manager on stage , loads of guest stars on stage, directors/actors/ jazz bands... Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm ( yes, they have restored DP70 projectors from the 50's )

    and as much as I adore film, many indies have been helped out with the cost of digital...
