Sundew | Drosera brevifolia

There is a population of Drosera brevifolia growing on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington that is hidden in plain site. Many students walk right past the population without knowing that this carnivorous plant is even present. However, students in my lab recently estimated that the population was quite large -- perhaps ~6000 individuals. Each individual, however, is tiny. Plant the size of a dime are quite large. I suspect that this population is growing in size -- but we will have to keep monitoring it to find out. Wonder and mystery swirls around this small plant that is native to North Carolina.
