I come from a land down under

I have, for as long as I can possibly remember, loved animals - and not just the wonderful everyday precious pet types, but also the more diverse and off-kilter. Hedgehogs, manatees, ferrets, otters, salamanders (for something super out of the ordinary, Wiki the word "olm"), pink (river) dolphins, anything that's albino - these and many more are all so beautiful and somehow, I find, easy to relate to.

 

This little platypus toy (a gift from an absolute sweet heart of a friend in Australia) is a charming symbol of my adoration of unique critters the world over.
