Happy 20th, Sparks! (2)
This year (2009) marks the twentieth anniversary of Sparks, the branch of the Girl Guides of Canada (for girls ages 5-6). While I wasn't a Spark myself (I joined the GGC for the first time when I was in grade seven), I've always adored their immensely cute pink uniforms and loved the fact that the GGC has a level in place for youngsters as soon as they reach school age.
In celebration of this milestone year, I thought I'd photograph my Girl Guide doll (she's one of the current editions, which are also available in other hair colours and skin tones) in her Sparks sweatsuit uniform. I like elements of this photo, but am thinking that it might work better on white or another background colour instead of pink, which I worry might be washing out her colouring and taking away from the vibrancy of her fiery locks (and pretty rose hued uniform). I could see myself trying another shoot with this doll, especially when we get some better (natural) light here soon (it was overcast and snowing all day today). Thoughts regarding the pink-on-pink (vs another colour background) are welcome :)
