Day 8: Extra Day At Sea Aboard Carnival Elation Due To Hurricane Isaac Battering Home Port; New Orleans, LA! (8-30-12) Photo #29

A cluster of storm cells developing to the east of us at sunset. This was viewed on the Sun Deck around the mini golf area. I later saw some lighting later this evening while we were eating dinner at the Tiffany's restaurant so I assume these were still maturing! This was aboard Carnival Elation. This was actually our extra day at sea. We were suppose to dock in NOLA this morning. However, we were still somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico. We were closer to the Gulf Coast than to the Yucatan Peninsula so we know we are over halfway back to the mainland. We were staying out at sea as we wait for Hurricane Isaac to leave home port: New Orleans, LA. The Mississippi River was still closed to ship traffic. To kill time/as we waited for Isaac to slowly leave, we were actually just traveling in a zigzag motion. (Thursday early evening, August 30, 2012)
