(11/365) Mobile Monday, San Francisco
January 11th: I went today with Tomomi to this months Mobile Monday event in San Francisco. It was awesome to see Tomomi again and meet some people from the local mobile industry. The topic of the evening was interessting but also a little strange: mobile payments (interessting) and virtual goods (weird).
On the virtual goods part one guy from the panel said that last summer - during a heat wave in England - they sold about 5.000 virtual ice creams in their social network. There were also ideas to sell virtual water when the virtual flowers are going to die...
Virtual goods is currently a 1 billion dollar market according to the MoMo website. That's a lot of virtual flowers, water and furtalizer.
