The Scales Of Justice

Seen in the Supreme Court, Darwin.

These symbols of justice were sculptured by Andor Meszaros in 1964 and were displayed on the exterior of the old Supreme Court building (1965 - 1991). Controversy surrounded the unveiling when the upper figure (the Judge) was found with a beer stuck to the raised hand and a waiter's towel stuck to the other arm.

The Attorney General at the time, Mr Billy Sneddon, thought that as a juvenile prank it was a pretty good one :)
