Renoir, Pierre Auguste (1905) Young Woman Arranging Her Earring
There were two Renoir paintings displayed, and I liked this one the best. Sometimes criticized for producing treacle, he countered by saying that there was enough ugliness in the world, and therefore he wished to create works of beauty - which he did. I don't think anyone could paint beautiful women as well as Renoir.
By the way, I'm a teacher (physics and the history/theology/philosophy of science) who does biophysics research. I just gotta teach, so I may seem a little (little?) pedantic. I'm sorry about that (up to a point), but I teach because I want to learn- and that's my real calling before God.
