I have absolutely no idea what was going on here. This is an abandoned coffin outside an abandoned church off Via San Biagio dei Librai. It was there the whole time that we were in Naples.

    The coffin, fortunately, was empty.

Luca Terracciano, Rachilina, and 2 other people added this photo to their favorites.

ahah it's still there... and probably it's there from the 9 of july 2006...
this date doesn't remember you anything? :P

yeah, the day italy became champion of the world... didn't you see the poster on the coffin?
it says "francia"... this coffin celebrates the victory of italy and the death of france.
      that's it.

nothing strange or related to "camorra".... just some black neapolitan humour. eheh

(i have some photo of it, too)

p.s. up there, when i photographed it, there was also a banner which says "ridateci il vero calcio" (give us back the real soccer), in relation with some scandals happened in italy......

      Grazie mille, (sand)!

I didn't think it was anything sinister, just... odd. Though I probably would have failed to make the connection even if I saw the 'francia' as I pretty much lost interest in the World Cup after England and Australia were turfed out ;-)

I often see many odd things in London, but it's been the first time in my life I've seen an abandoned coffin. I appreciate the humour!

      Thanks for the explanation.
