Mayan Cichlids

Casa Cenote was another lovely cenote we visited on our trip. Not as cavernous as Gran Cenote, Casa Cenote flows more like a river until it reaches the edge of the Caribbean shoreline at which point it flows through an underground cavern and empties out several hundred yards off shore.

Because of this connection to the ocean the water was not as clear as Gran Cenote and a bit more on the brackish side. That said it did support a much greater diversity of aquatic life including impressive Mayan Cichlids and Shortfin Mollies as well as Tarpon, Snook, and many more.
