Lincoln Park Ruins 8/8/08
Lincoln Park was an amusement park on Route 6 between Fall River and Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Originally a trolley park, the amusement park operated from 1894 until its untimely closing in 1987. The park's centerpiece was the Comet, a Vernon Keenan-designed roller coaster built in 1946. The Comet is barely standing after 20 years of abandonment and neglect, and is soon to be torn down to make room for a condo development. Sadly, even before the lift hill toppled over, the coaster was beyond restoration or repair, and will be sorely missed when the bulldozers eventually come a-callin.
