Mountain Park Ruins 1997
Mountain Park was an amusement park in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Originally a trolley stop at the halfway point up Mount Tom, the park grew from a small pleasure garden to a full-fledged amusement park with rides, picnic groves, beer hall, and a classic wooden roller coaster designed by Herb Schmeck. The park received a facelift in the 1950s and its beautiful day-glo Art Deco architecture, lovingly designed by Dominic Spadola, set the lively tone for the park all the way up to 1987. That year, declining attendance and a fatal accident on the park's kiddie train forced Holyoke's institution to close for good. Ten years later in October of 1997, I went back to the park with my trusty Pentax K-1000, loaded with absolutely the wrong film for the job, and took as many shots as I could in the waning sunlight.

We didn't have the best of scanners Back In The Day, I'm afraid.
