Of course we had to take a trip to /the/ original Ikea store! I was amazed at just how affordable the stuff in this store was, even by South African standards and in spite of the fact that we were in one of the least affordable countries in the world.
These weary shoppers were sitting outside of the store, presumably waiting for the bus or taxis.
Did I buy anything, you ask? Well yes, actually I did. I bought a roll of non-slip tape (ie sticky on one side and grippy on the other). And no we cannot buy this in South Africa. Yes, I have looked. Extensively. I knew it had to exist somewhere on the planet though and I was right.
We got to Ikea by using the free Ikea bus from downtown Stockholm (the store was about 45 mins out of town). We got a great little city tour as the bus went over various of the islands, and to our great delight the bus had open wifi on it.
