Spread Your Wings
This little girl came out of her chrysalis this morning. I managed to get a handful of photos before her wings finished drying and she flew off. We started with over a dozen caterpillars on the butterfly weed. 8 or so lasted long enough to grow to full size. 2 survived long enough to form chrysalises. The first monarch to emerge was promptly eaten by a squirrel. This is the only one to make it all the way; she's the lone survivor.
Katie named one of the caterpillars "Tiny," and she's positive that Tiny grew up to become this particular Butterfly. Sounds good to me.
