A Whale Tale
Working nights my metobalism once rested on day's off finds it hard to adjust. Walking around at midnight on Sunday night worrying about this and that decided what the heck I will go and watch a whale, never mind had not done this before and live hours from the coast.
Did not expect the close encounter which I experienced and can say I wiped whale snot off my lens. These guys, three, were under the boat beside the boat, popping up to visually check what was happening, could have reached out my had and touched, felt like jumping in the water, the old boat was doing a bit of rock and rolling and never once did I think they would overturn the craft. A memorable encounter with the giants of the planet. Also was privaleged to witness and photograph a Southern Right whale and her calf, endangered and according to the crew only one seen at this location and that was six years ago.
