Sunset, Madison County, Alabama, Panorama - h

    Newer Older

So there I was, just minding my own business and...

Though you can't tell, and would probably never know it, Madison County Alabama is the state's most productive county for cotton farming. I tell folks "We grow two things Huntsville - cotton, and rockets." You see, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is located on the Army's Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.

Oh... I almost forgot to mention it - this is over a cotton field. You can probably see some of the mountains in the background.

      Thank you, Luis!
Yup. We haz mountains! Matter of fact, they're deciduously verdent as can be seen here. And, because they're on the horizon, they appear much smaller.
      Thanks, Hmood!

Can't find fault with the size of the mountains - since we have none around here in southern Ontario. Although we have a huge cliff that runs for hundreds of miles. But it is an escarpment, not a real mountain. Perfect timing to catch the last of the intense light on the clouds!

Brook, the mountains around here average 1500 feet above sea level, and 850 above mean terrain. And on a larger scale, the area in general forms the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau.
      Thanks, Val!
      Thank you, Loy!
