Gov. "Hot Rod" Blagojevich @ Illinois State University
Governor “Hot Rod” Blagojevich came to ISU last week, touting all of the wonderful work he’s done to help higher education in Illinois and signing textbooks. But Hot Rod has been a little too busy taking those tough stands against child abuse and video games to bother with helping higher education. In FY2002, the state of Illinois allocated $2.9 billion for higher education. For FY2007, it was less than $2.8 billion. In FY2002, ISU was allocated just over $93 million. Five years later, it’s barely over $92 million. Meanwhile, inflation has increased by about 15%. And let’s not even talk about the underfunded pension system. Thanks, Hot Rod. You’re doing a heckuva job.
