~ The glacier of Kehlenalp ~

One week after the opening of the hiking season, Tabea and I went for a two-day hike in order to train our tattered feet (Tabea had broken her ankle three months before, and I had a torn ligament a few weeks ago).

On the first day, we had an easy hike of altogether four and a half hours; for the second day we planned an Alpine hike of about six to seven hours (provided that our feet were not suffering too much after the first day), but the weather upset our plans: There was a thunderstorm with hail and torrential rain in the early morning of the second day, and the forecast for the whole day was quite bad. Thus we took the easy way back (after the thunderstorm had calmed down), and our feet were pretty thankful...

Scientists guess that this glacier will have disappeared completely -- due to the climate warming -- within 15 to 20 years...
