Explorer 10

Explorer 10 collected data on interplanetary magnetic fields, solar winds, and the reaction of our planet's magnetic field to solar flares. Launched from Cape Canaveral on March 25, 1961, the satellite's transmissions ceased after sixty hours, some five hours longer than expected. Read more about it in the scientific tourist #103.
