Cube House • Kubuswoningen, Rotterdam

Cube houses are a set of houses built in Rotterdam by Piet Blom. He tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest. The houses on Overblaak Street, above Blaak metro station are 40 cubes attached to each other. The houses contain three floors and are 100 square metres, not all of which is usable. due to the angles.
