Project 366 2012 #169
17.06.2012. It was my actual birthday. It was also the annual RAF Cosford Air Show. The weather this year was a whole lot better than last year, so we got a proper show. And a rain shower. This meant that most of the show I had a wet bum.
Before getting into the subject matter of the photo, the Red Arrows, properly, some notes.
1) RAF Falcons had their greatest battle with a cardboard box.
2) The air show commentator Sean Maffet called Red 10, Sqn Ldr Mike Ling, "Babe Magnet". Well, the man cannot help being good looking, I suppose.
3) The aforementioned Sqn Ldr Ling came up with a new word; monumentous. We think this is pure genius and will use it.
4) Sean Maffet also nominated the Tutor display pilot, Flt Lt Shaun Kimberley as "Mr Flick 2012" due to the amount of 'flicks' in his display. This caused me to think of a character from the comedy series "'Allo! 'Allo!" and made me laugh quite a lot.
5) I attract spiders.
This manoeuvre is called 'Python' and is performed by Enid, Reds 1-5. I had two contestants for the photo of the day (from the Reds photos), but the other one was a little bit too dark for my liking. I'll probably post it at a later date, but I wanted something a little bit more distinctive as my photo of the day.
The weather and light conditions made the photographing somewhat challenging and I am not entirely sure whether they were to blame for some focusing issues my camera had. Quite possible. We'll see. I hadn't used my (current) camera in a proper air show before today, so it was a proper test for the both of us, me and the camera.
