yeah man, it's what you like and there's good tips here. you either deal with it in potatoshop or drop the $$$ for housings for the camera and strobe.

If you are shooting RAW, you might be able to pull some detail out of the picture in post with Photoshop.

Sometimes the shot is what it is. Without taking it into Photoshop to play with it I don't think there is much you can do. Exposing for surfer's shadowed body would blow out the rest of the picture.

Nice shot.. I'd like to see it cropped lengthwise, and "letterboxed" with black bars, like a movie. Maybe even push up the blue channel a bit and desaturate, like an old surfer flic!

Very nice. Unfortunately I haven't ever shot surfing so I can't comment on it from that angle, but the shot would have grabbed me regardless. It's got nice composition with the wave pulling the eye into the surfer and great color with the green in the water. I might up the contrast some but that may be too picky - really the image is very good as is.

I'm with Zeke, not knowing a lot about surf photography, all I can say is I like it.

Sadly, getting up in the morning might be about all you can do unless you can bring yourself a giant light.

A tighter crop would make this better. The surfer is lost in the wave.
