Long Way Down

When I was in the army, I thought about volunteering for EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) duty -- until they took me out and blew up a quarter-pound block of TNT about 100 yards away. This instantly altered my perception.

Right after we got to Toroweap we saw this guy sitting on the edge of the rim. He was pretty casual. It was a loooong way down. I became instantly persuaded that I don't want to become a big wall rock climber either.

I really like watching videos of Alex Honnold climbing and Jeb Corliss flying, but the monitor is close enough for me, thank you.

Call me Walter Mitty.
