kicking out the jams with the high strung at the public library!

    Newer Older

odin and his cousins had the extra-special treat of getting to see the high strung at their only stop in wisconsin on their first-ever national rock & roll Library tour! i suppose it's fitting in a way that the band whose debut record was named the top 10 rock records of 2003 by npr's ken tucker should be touring libraries. and you know they are public radio rock stars because they have their very own segment about the tour on this american life.

a good time was had by all and we got to meet a bunch of new people from our new town with toddlers which made it all the more fun. on a side note, very few people in viroqua know my secret identity as the chronicler of odin's adventures and i haven't figured out a way to nonchalantly ask if it's o.k. to post pictures of people we meet. even i think i sounds a bit creepy. just imagine that there are lots and lots and lots of happy kids and parents standing and dancing behind me :-)

i'm with ya on the posting of strangers kids. i'm always a little wierded out about doing it. if i do, and i rarely do, i always post only to friends and family. this library tour sounds very cool, i will have to look for a sacramento stop.

I need to be more careful with stuff like that. Not that it happens often, but every now and then even I get tired of Beck. :-)

maybe you should get some business cards made up for Odin's blog, so people know you're not just a creepy guy photographing kids and putting them on the internet.

I like the matching pants the guys have. Very 70s LOL

I think Candy has the right idea. Something like a light hearted business card...with the blog address. Do you have a local newspaper? Maybe they would be interested in doing a "local celebrity" type article to introduce Odin to town..without too much fanfare.

Viroqua eh? Well, I guess we are neighbors. According to Google Maps, you are just 171 miles from me. :)

i'll take the business card idea under advisement. i know the guy who wrote the utne article that prompted us to visit knows about the site and i'm hoping he might get the word out in a low-key way since it's not a big town and word travels fast. in fact, we do have a local newspaper and coincidentially the paper's photographer was taking lots of pictures of odin feeding mauja popcorn that may or may not end up in the writeup on the library concert.

the birthplace of butch vig! and only 171 miles? that's a "day drive"! and for a little snowdeal show trivia, oconomowoc is where the couple we bought the house from now call home. who knows, they could be your neighbors...

I saw this concert advertised on every other sign in the city as I drove through last Thursday. Took 131 home as 27 was a disaster as it has been for like the last 2 summers, I hope they fix it right this time or at least finish it all. I even debated stopping at the DQ for some Ice Cream but decided to continue my journey as I was almost to Tomah at that point. I happened to see a Organic Valley Milk truck in La Farge on my way home and thought of you and Odin.
