Third Grade Reading Challenge 3/28/18
The finals of the 2018 “Sno-Isle Libraries Mega-Fun, Biblio-Trivia, Rockem-Sockem Third Grade Reading Challenge” took place March 28, 2018 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The reading challenge is a months-long literary trivia program for students enrolled in public schools in the library district. The finals are the culmination of in-school competitions and regional semifinal events. More than 1,300 students on 200 teams from 50 schools across two counties participated in the 2018 reading challenge. The seven teams in the finals included Mt. Pilchuck Elementary, Lake Stevens School District; Stanwood Elementary, Stanwood-Camano School District; Brier Elementary, Edmonds School District; Sherwood Elementary, Edmonds School District; Silver Firs Elementary, Everett School District; Crescent Harbor Elementary, Oak Harbor School District, and Dutch Hill Elementary, Snohomish School District. After two tiebreaker rounds, students from Stanwood Elementary were the top scoring team for 2018. Local authors Patrick Jennings and Kelly Jones were on hand for the finals. Funding and support for the reading challenge is provided by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation and the Northwest Literacy Foundation.
