Scopious with Mamiya 50mm

The Scopious above has a Mamiya Press adapter board to mount Mamiya Press lenses, in this case the 50mm. The Scopious is similar in design to the newer Alpa camera. I like the Alpa design but they are rather pricey so I decided to make my own. It took quite awhile to acquire all the parts used.

The Mamiya adapter was machined from scratch so it is compact and integral to the lens board. I took apart the Super Rollex back and machined a custom adapter interface. I took the base off the Linhof finder and machined a new base with level for the top of the camera. I took apart the Super Rollex back and machined a custom adapter interface. I took the base off the Linhof finder and machined a new base with level for the top of the camera. The Linhof finder, set to 53mm, has an angle of view very close to the original Mamiya finder, but is much much brighter.

I built these to take overlapping panoramics, much like the Cuboid. The Super Rollex backs make this possible as one can swap out the mechanics of different format Rollexs with their housings. Linhof made everything interchangeable-- so the wind mechanism from the 6x7 Rollex in the 6x9 housing will produce overlapping frames.
