Gurney - Grant Ford Mk. II at Sebring 66

Dan Gurney (in car) and Jerry Grant had quite a ride in this car. The car (due to vapor lock) refused to start when the green flag fell. Gurney was at the wheel and was the next to the last car to leave the grid. He drove like a mad man and eventually passed everyone to take the lead. The car led for quite a bit of the race but died on the last two laps and Gurney parked it at the entrance to the pit road. Later they found that the timing chain had broken. However, Gurney decided to push the car down pit road into the pits. For doing so the stewards disqualified the car because pushing on the course was forbidden. If Gurney had left the car where it stopped he would have finished second.
