sifter, lift off

I finally broke down and bought a sifter, that is, a space-utilizing single-use kitchen gadget, i.e. all that I rail against. In my defense, they're both tiny and cheap from Ikea.

I like using my fine sieve rather than a sifter. Am I doing it wrong?

Nope. For years (forever?) I've only used a sieve and I never encourage people to buy sifters as they take up space and only do one thing, while the sieve can be used for everything. However, this was a) tiny (it's probably just 4 inches across) and b) cheap at Ikea and I couldn't resist. I hardly know me anymore.

this is probably the only single use tool i've always thought of as a kitchen staple, because for some reason my mom and grandmother each have one that is a billion years old and use it whenever they bake. go figure.

(plus? my boyfriend has one of those metal mesh colander things and i HATE them with my entire being because it seems unless you put them through the dishwasher you can never get them totally clean. i keep hiding it but he keeps finding it and using it to drain meat! /facepalm)
