blanched almonds

I have to say, these tasted like nothing. Like air. Like crunchy neutrality. What's the deal with the nuts that are readily available in the U.S.? I know people are growing pecans and almonds and walnuts but I so rarely get really great quality nuts, even in good stores. The only nut, which yes, is really a legume, that I find markedly improved these days is peanuts, where vacuum sealed cans of Virginia peanuts are now pretty widely distributed and they taste amazing -- so crunchy, and huge!
Somewhere, a 12-year old (or my husband) is giggling.
