Friends brought us a peach crumb cake from Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, which I understand to be the star of TLC's Cake Boss. (Okay fine, I don't "understand" it to be, I know it is, and I know it is because Cake Boss comes on after Jon and Kate, not because the TV genre of fondant-coated sculpture cakes built by crazy loud bosses holds my interest, or not more than those eight adorable kids. While we're being honest and stuff.) Anyway, this was a very delicious thing to wake up to this morning and it is clearly time for a peach, round riff on my favorite fruit-filled crumb cake. Also? What a great idea, bringing a host gift to a party that doubles as breakfast for the next day, so we're not forced to subsist on cheese plate leftovers until we rally to leave the apartment.
