    Yes, but it was a lovely $45 rental for the four-day weekend. So I could pretend we could afford it.

    It's very nice but VERY VERY HEAVY. Yes, I know all of these pro lenses are but our regular cheapie 50mm is like 4 measly ounces and this was over a pound and that's quite a heft for a non-zoom lens. But I'll come to a better researched conclusion after actually going through our 50+ pictures from the weekend. Which if, unfortunately, is that I'm hopelessly in love with it will be sad as it turns out I do not have a trust fund.

    I think the F1.4 version is good enough, and at a fraction of the cost.
