roasted parsnip and red lentil soup

I clipped this recipe from the New York Times in 2002, I think. Even after laying out the ingredients, I still didn't get to making it. And then the parsnips got rubbery in the fridge and I used the onion for something else and ... well... maybe 2008 will be the year I finally get to it.
