Petrified forest I
The petrified forest was another one of the places I always wanted to visit. Last february that dream came true. Now a National Park, the petrified forest was once a real forest. Until about 40 million years ago it was swept away by a big flood. You can still see how some of the tree trunks lay in an ancient kind of river bed. The logs became water logged, sank to the bottom of the river and were covered by silt which caused the wood to become petrified.
