    ENGLISH
The Arciprestal Church of Santa Maria the Major of Morella (Province of Castellón, Spain), located in the Square of Benedicto XV is a building constructed between centuries 13th and 16th in styles gothic and Renaissance.

The temple counts on a plant of three naves with its corresponding apses, being the central of greater width. Only in one of the sides (the one of the gospel) there are chapels between heavy abutments, whereas in the other (the one of the epistle) the two facades are arranged.

In the interior they emphasize the great pillars that sustain the groin vaults. Special mention deserves the choir and its spiral staircase, located very atypical in the penultimate section, that displays reduced arcs and a starred vault. It is possible to be seen carved in form of freize the Porch of the Gloria.

To the outside they emphasize the two lateral facades, that are the only access to the interior. Both covers are finished off by gable and follow the typology faithfully gothic, were carried out in 14th century. The door of the Apostles displays in the extreme Renaissance elements in the decoration of a later intervention. The one of the Virgins it is more of refined plan as far as the decoration.

    CASTELLANO
