Those ears have two primary uses: For thermoregulation (blood vessels to dissipate heat in their Central Kalahari Game Reserve habitats) and to hear their sub-surface prey (harvester termites and barking geckos etc.). The moisture from these prey items makes it unnecessary to find water in their arid environs...
