THANK YOU !!!

Back in July 2011, when I started to make my first family trees for gorilla groups in zoos, I had no idea what I have got myself into. I had no intentions whatsoever to do more than just a couple of trees, and only for my favourite zoos. Then things got "out of hand", so to speak, and I added more and more trees to my initially small collection.

Now, two years later and after many an hour of work, my project is finally complete. All zoos worldwide housing gorillas are covered with their own chart (or charts, as sometimes I made more than just one), representing a total of 856 individuals living in 146 institutions, according to the latest edition of the International Studbook.

I would like to thank all my fellow gorilla lovers who have been appreciating my efforts and encouraging me to keep going. Without your positive feedback I might have given up on my project long time ago. I owe special thanks to Carla, Petra, Jane and Jim (you know who you are!) as well as to "Gorillas Land" and "Gorillagruppen in Zoos" on Facebook. And last not least, many thanks to all the photographers - first of all to A.J. Haverkamp and Max Block - who allowed me to use their pictures for my trees!

However, this project of mine is not yet finished, and of course it never will be - due to transfers, births and deaths - but I will try to keep the charts as up-to-date as possible, also in the future.
