Gorilla: Colo

This is a tribute to Colo who lived at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio, United States. At her death in January 2017, she was the oldest known gorilla, and also the first gorilla born in captivity worldwide. The chart lists all of her children and grandchildren, some great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren Bambio, Baina and Hadari.

Color Key - Black: males, red: females. Brackets: number of offspring. Arrows - Pointing from parents to their offspring.

Please note: Siblings Oscar and Toni had three offspring together. Oscar's complete offspring is here.

This chart is based on the interactive online Gorilla Studbook by James R. Davis and the official International Studbook, published by Frankfurt Zoo. If you find a mistake, please let me know.

Read the Wikipedia article on Colo, or a vintage news article on her birth.
