Judging at the New York Pizza Show, 2007
I was asked to serve as a judge in PMQ magazine's "America's Plate" international pizza contest on March 6, 2007.

Three other judges and I tasted pizzas from 7 countries—the U.S., Canada, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Italy, and Australia (which, oddly enough, had held the America's Plate two years running).

The pizzeria representing Spain won, with a gold leaf–topped pizza. The gold leaf was a gimmick, but the rest of the pie was solid.

France came in second (must be all that experience with tarte flambée), and the U.S. came in third.

Here are the photos.
