    Part 2: The Tree With Sky Inside It

    Last fall, in the Mount Royal Cemetery, I had noticed a bunch of trees marked with a fluorescent orange jar lid nailed into it. In winter I photographed a lot of them for an as-yet unrealised video project. In spring, the groundskeepers at the cemetery started cutting down those marked trees, and carting them away somewhere.

    During a recent walk, I found the stumps, and wondered where they take the dead trees, the bit of irony in there of course being that a cemetery contains the dead. But not for trees. And a further thought about how the dead souls perhaps nourished these trees....
