As individuals, we've all experienced loneliness at one time or another. But what about as a race? Think about it. If we as humans didn't feel so alone, would we need to create Gods to pray to? Would scientists need to try and prove there is life out there... somewhere... unless as a race we were lonely?
And why shouldn't we be? We are sentient and intelligent creatures. We imagine, we dream, create, and explore. Not because we need to, but because we want to. We're driven to. And we want to believe that there are other beings out there like us.
This new build by AM Radio echoes this desire of ours. The radio telescopes kneel in the dust and turn their faces to the sky, waiting and listening. They turn en masse, following the sun and stars, waiting for that one lone signal that will prove once and for all that we are not alone.
It's quiet and gloriously eerie. Anthropomorphizing these machines is easy to do when you sit and watch them for a while.
