Lady Gaga at Madame Tussaud's New York
Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta), hailing from the Bronx, is probably the current pop standard-bearer, between her provocative lyrics and even more provocative costumes. Beneath it all is a recurring theme of positive messages, especially for LGBT youth and other disadvantaged people.
Lady Gaga's provocative appearance and LGBT-positive messages have earned her a ton of flak from cultural conservatives. At the time I took this photo, she was in the midst of her Asian tour, where she had just endured a death threat from South Korea's Christian terrorists, and would soon be banned from performing in heavily Muslim Indonesia and greeted by protests from evangelical Christians in the Philippines.
Madame Tussaud's - always a tacky tourist trap, but also always a good place to test my portrait photography skills - and my prime lens (35mm f/1.8).
