Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
From a hiking trip to the volcano on Fimmvörðuháls Iceland 22.8.2010. Hiking volcanologists from Denmark observing the crater and surroundings. Ash covered steaming hot ground next to the hiking trail and some red-hot lava still visible in the cracks around the crater. I was amazed how much heat is still on the surface in the area. Some say, it will take years to cool down from the eruptions. This mountain has been given the name Magni, and the second mountain Móði, sons of Þór. The new lava from the craters has been named Goðahraun.
