What Lies Underneath - Part 2

    Newer Older

This is the underside of my Palermo office desk (you can find more details about my office setup HERE).

Seven and three quarter inch neon orange nylon wire ties were used to mount the power brick, power strip, and backup hard drive to the underside of the pegboard. You can see what the rest of the desk looks like from behind HERE. All parts and accessories were purchased at The Home Depot and Fry's Electronics.

The photo is for my Declutter The Mess Under Your Desk! blog post.

Thanks Adam! Maybe I can make this a bonus tutorial at one of our future Refocus PHX meet ups that will conveniently be held at your place. :)

Awsome cable management. Maybe you can help figure out something creative for a glass desk.

That is some great cable management there! I wish I could get my set up that organized.

@Vortex324 - Thanks! Hmm, interesting dilemma you have with the glass desk. One option you may try is finding a long piece of wood, plastic, or metal that matches the color or material used for your desk's legs. My thought is that you can attach this to the back two legs and run it horizontally across the backside of the desk. Then, use this as a structure to mount pegboard to, or mount a cable management system to it.

@21st.century.lies - Thanks, and I would highly recommend giving it a shot by starting simple (i.e., wire loom, rounding up extra cable with a zip tie, getting rid of extra electronics by storing them in a closet).

@Vortex324 - Here's a setup that illustrates what I was referring to—the desk already has a built in metal strip but my thought is that you can create something like this for your desk:
