Lyttelton Harbour (Whakaraupo), a beautiful and idyllic spot only 20 minutes drive from Christchurch. Lyttelton Harbour is an inlet on the north-western side of Banks Peninsula, extending 18km inland from the southern end of Pegasus Bay.
This particular view was taken from the road that overlooks Rapaki Bay, Cass Bay and Corsair Bay. The road itself hugs the shoreline of Lyttelton Harbour throughout its route - from the start-point of Lyttelton (Ōhinehou) to Purau, on the opposite side of Lyttelton Harbour... a stunning drive and highly recommended!
In the far distance on the left hand-side is a small glimpse of the Port Hills. These are a majestic range of hills that divide Lyttelton Harbour from nearby Christchurch. The views from the summit are stunning - taking in the splendor of the harbour area itself, Canterbury plains, Southern Alps and Banks Peninsula... don't forget your camera!
