Do not stir up a hornets' Nest
The Avro Lancaster a four-engined Second World War heavy bomber first saw active service in 1942, and together with the Handley Page Halifax it was one of the main heavy bombers of the RAF, the RCAF, and squadrons from other Commonwealth and European countries serving within RAF Bomber Command. The title for this photo comes from 100 Squadrons moto 'Sarang Tebuan Jangan Dijolok'. Currently 100 Squadron fly Hawks out of RAF Leeming as part of the advanced fast-jet weapons systems officer training and operational support- flying.
The "Lanc" is a sight to behold as it majestically flies past. I have seen it about three times this year and expect to see a few more times, on the 22 August at Lytham St. Annes and at Duxford on 5 September.
For these two shots I have tried to give the impression of an evening flight, not broad day light as I originally took the shot at RIAT, Fairford 2010 around mid-day.
