Eruption of Mount Kelud on 13th February 2014

A short video showing the eruption of Mount Kelud in Indonesia on 14th February 2014. The video starts at 13.00 GMT and runs until midnight. Starting at around 16.00 a large spot appears in the middle of the images - the volcanic ash produced by the eruption. Over the next few hours it expands and drifts slowly to the South-West.

 

Note: The last 2 frames of the video show a coastline overlay.

 

This data was retrieved via the EUMETCAST system and was produced by the Japan Meteorological Agency's MTSAT satellite. David Taylor's MSG Data Manager was used to process the raw data.
