Glider Pattern, Game of Life

I developed a visualization tool for use with the Game of Life - it allows you to view ahead a number of generations to see future outcomes of current patterns.

This illustration accompanied my blog article on the subject titled, "The Game of Life: New Chromatic Projection Method".

The above screen-grab came from my new freeware utility, The Chromatic Game of Life, which allows you to see the future paths of Game of Life generations through plotting gradations of green onto currenty empty cells which will give birth in upcoming iterations. Darkest green are currently live cells, while lighter green cells are going to give birth next, and the lightest green cells will give birth the furthest out from the current pattern.

This is an enhancement on John Conway's Game of Life which is a ruleset for Cellular Automata.

* If you'd like to view an animated sequence of the Glider moving across the field of empty cells, click the "All Sizes" icon link above the image above and view the Original Image. Flickr only displays the last cell of the animation sequence on this page, so you have to view the original to see the entire animation loop.

Feel free to take and use this image or the animated gif image, so long as you hyperlink the image back to this page, or to my website page where the Chromatic Game of Life utility is located. Flickr makes this easy if you click on the All Sizes icon above, and just copy the code that's provided.
