The Shipping Forecast
Wight, Northeast 4 or 5, becoming variable 3 or 4. You'd have thought a bit of a breeze might have shifted some of the rather monotonous grey stuff covering the Sussex coast, but no. So, I guess this is a go at trying to make the best of less than ideal light for photography. To say the light was flat, would be a bit of an understatement, even the dog walkers we met on our way up to this mill gave us a look that said "you can't seriously want to take photographs in this?" But, darn it, having made the effort you have to try and make the best of it and I did have a new lens I wanted to try out :) Given the conditions, I'm actually quite surprised at the result, just shows that black and white photography is not just about perfect light. I even like the fact that the gate is slightly blurred from the movement caused by a wind that was definitely more variable than forecast.
The mill is Halnaker Mill in Sussex, England and it is actually reached by following the old Roman Road Stane Street.
