A Break in Weather
I've been wanting to get this shot for a while.
In the middle of the Google campus, there's an outdoor patio between a couple of our big cafes that's dotted with bright Google-colored umbrellas. The buildings surrounding it have a modern corporate architecture, including lots of windows and soaring wooden beams that create a mesh of lines overhead. The slate flooring is uneven, and collects large puddles of water when it rains. I've never managed to have my SLR with me to capture it.
Usually after a rain in California, it becomes impossibly sunny and these pools of water become giant shiny mirrors. This particular afternoon, the sky was still dark, the wind was blowing, and rain was coming down intermittently from imperceptible clouds (it was perfect rainbow weather and, in fact, we saw one about 15 minutes after I took this shot).
I crouched down next to this puddle for about a minute waiting for the wind and rain to let up for an instant, and came away with this.
